SJSU’s senior BA design project focuses on the "sea change project" advocating mindful environmental engagement. My team and I created a fictional non-profit addressing water literacy and culture.
As part of SJSU’s senior BA Design capstone, our team developed Sea Change, a fictional nonprofit dedicated to advocating for mindful environmental engagement through water literacy and culture.
The project explores how design can support public understanding of water systems and encourage more intentional relationships with water in everyday life. Our concept specifically focused on the issue of black water produced by cruise ships and its environmental impact, using this as a lens to raise awareness about water pollution and sustainability.
Through research, we identified gaps in environmental awareness and translated those insights into a cohesive nonprofit concept centered on education, accessibility, and community engagement.
We developed the organization’s brand identity, visual system, and communication materials, creating a unified experience that communicates the importance of water stewardship. The final outcome demonstrates how strategic design can be used to simplify complex environmental topics and inspire behavioral and cultural change.
